Sound Mind’s rocking musical repertoire features great tunes that everyone knows from James Taylor tothe Grateful Dead to Little Feat and more, all with their own unique flair and some mandolin music mixed in. Sound Mind includes local favorites, Peter Mix on mandolin, Frank Springer on guitar and vocals, Don Bolio on guitar and vocals, and Jeff Barrows on bass. Expect the unexpected!

Members of Sound Mind

Jeff Barrows started his pro career playing bass in 1966 while still in Junior High school.  He played on the road throughout the western United States from 1978 – 1981 and has kept at it ever since.

Don Bolio started in 1974 at eight years old playing country with the Gihon Valley Boys.  Since then Don has played in many bands –  mostly country rock, southern rock, and rock and roll.  He’s the youngster in Sound Mind.

Peter Mix began his professional career as a guitarist, mandolinist & violinist in 1971, performing with the late Jeffrey Frederick, Michael Hurley, Robin Remailly, Will Patton and many other fine musicians. He became deeply involved in the world of orchestral and ensemble playing in the 1990’s and is an honorary member of the Providence Mandolin Orchestra. He loves rock and roll.

Frank Springer started playing professionally in western Mass in the early 1970′s and spent most of that decade in Philadelphia playing in acoustic duos, bluegrass and jug bands, and, of course, rock and dance bands.

About the Peak VTartists Series

Every famous performer started out as a local artist.  To become world class, those artists must perform for engaged audiences in a world class theatre.  That’s where we come in with our new initiative, Peak VTartists.  Strengthening our regional community of artists is an important part of the mission of the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center.  The series will host musicians, singer/songwriters, dance companies, comedians, physical comedians, and family entertainers with Vermont roots.  Artists will be presented in a relaxed concert environment, tailored to the size of the audience appropriate for their work, with the same pride as the other international artists on our stage.
