TRIP DANCE COMPANY PERFORMS FOR THE THIRD YEAR AT THE SPRUCE PEAK PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Tenth Annual Fundraiser to Support Local Dancers
(STOWE, VT, February 2, 2013) – The much-anticipated annual TRIP dance show is back for its third year at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 23, at 3 and 7:30 pm. Stowe’s own TRIP Dance Company, under the direction of Helena Sullivan, will be performing two shows featuring its 36 dancers, ranging in age from 8-18, from Stowe, Morrisville, Waterbury Center, Waitsfield, Johnson, Elmore, and Eden.
Among the dances the company will be performing are several award-winning numbers that were performed this Fall at the New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA) in Boston. TRIP received Platinum, High Golds and Gold awards for its dances and was awarded the “Class Act Award,” given to the studio which represents its dances in an age-appropriate and “classy” manner.
General admission tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and can be purchased in advance from any TRIP dancer, at the Stowe Dance Academy, online at WWW.SPRUCEPEAKARTS.ORG, by calling the SPPAC box office at 802-760-4634, or at the door. Money raised goes towards scholarships and helps to offset costs of conventions, where the dancers perform and take instruction.
TRIP, now in its 12th year, is a competitive dance company associated with the Stowe Dance Academy. TRIP, which stands for Technique, Rehearse, Implement and Perform, offers young dancers from Lamoille Valley and beyond the opportunity to master technique and performance skills in the areas of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern. TRIP dancers take classes with nationally recognized teachers at regional conventions, compete as a team at New England dance competitions, and perform at community events and fundraisers. TRIP is a nonprofit organization.
