Description
The Executive Director of the Spruce Peak Arts Center provides leadership, creates vision, and carrys out strategic planning and programming for the Center. The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for the Center’s ongoing activities and operations, including program development and delivery, fundraising, marketing, branding and public relations strategy and fiscal management, conducted in a manner that is consistent with established vision and goals. Day‐to‐day duties will include:
•develop and administer policy and strategic direction for the management and activities of the Center, including fundraising and marketing;
•coordinate strategic planning for the development of short‐ and long‐term goals and objectives for the Center;
•administer the day‐to‐day operations of the facility, overseeing all personnel and administrative activities including facility management, financial management, fundraising and marketing activities and box office and front of house operations,
•curate and coordinate programming and presenting activity, from contracts and artist selection to the oversight of technical production and administration;
•prepare budgets and necessary analysis and documentation; monitor related expenditures and revenues to provide effective, efficient and economical fiscal management of the Center and related programs;
•manage the facility schedule, overseeing all programs and rentals, negotiating supplier contracts and maintaining the physical plant;
•oversee human resource activities for the Center, including hiring, firing and evaluating staff and volunteers, scheduling, administrative procedures, workflow and/or non‐technical operating problems;
•oversee development activities, engaging in fundraising efforts that include applicable government, corporate, foundation and individual solicitation and support;
•oversee marketing activities, engaging branding and public relations efforts that reach local, regional and visiting audiences, potential users, and community leadership;
•develop and cultivate collaborations with appropriate residents and community partners to ensure that the Center is serving its constituents; and
•serve as a significant and publicly‐involved member of the Stowe cultural community.
Qualifications
The Executive Director must hold an aptitude and track record of success in managing performance facilities, fundraising, developing diverse programming and building collaborative partnerships. He/she must offer forward‐thinking visionary leadership, well‐developed management and marketing skills, a strong knowledge and passion for all genres of the arts and the ability to effectively reach and serve audiences, artists, and community organizations and entities.
Specific requirements include:
•3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience in the arts and/or entertainment industry including programming, facilities management and operations;
•strong budgeting, financial management, and analytic skills and the ability to present information in a clear and comprehensible manner to diverse audiences;
•significant experience with fundraising and development activities; exceptional communication skills to deliver the mission and vision in the Center’s formative years, and to serve as a public figure and member of the larger community;
•experience working with advisory boards and boards of directors, promoters and presenters, as well as arts and culture organizations;
•diplomacy and understanding of processes involving decision‐making and collaboration between stakeholders;
•prior success in developing and implementing creative, innovative and engaging arts and cultural programs that successfully serve a diversity of constituents; and
•leadership skills that enable the development of an effective, trusting, respectful and engaging team environment.
•bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
