Counterpoint, Vermont's professional vocal ensemble, joins forces with 8 “Ocho” Cuerdas (soprano Sarah Cullins and guitarist Daniel Gaviria) and Cassotto Duo (pianist and accordionist Annemieke and Jeremiah McLane) for an unforgettable evening. Hear the complete “Estaciones Porteñas” (Four Seasons in Buenos Aires) by Ástor Piazzolla, steamy Argentine songs, excerpts from “Romancero Gitano” (Gypsy Songbook) by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco, as well as classic and novel dances.

The Matisse Jazz Project with Christopher Bakriges and Gwen Laster — September 23 @ 8:00 pm

The 20 iconic cut paper collages Henri Matisse published in 1947 and called “Jazz” inspired jazz composer Christopher Bakriges to create this multi-media evening of musical reflections on what Matisse’s called “teaching the eye to hear.” This concert features Bakriges with violinist Gwen Laster, who has performed with Anthony Braxton, Nona Hendryx, Aretha Franklin, Marc Anthony, Alicia Keys, Rhianna, Natalie Cole and Shakira. Pianist Bakriges has performed and studied with Billy Taylor, Anthony Braxton, Oscar Peterson, Alvin Lucier, Kenny Burrell and Pat Metheny.
