Lighting Technician

Lighting Technician Job Summary:

The majority of the work performed involves designing, installing, and controlling lighting systems for a variety of events. Assists Technical Director (TD) with technical decisions and arrangements as required. Requires a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of each event. May be required to lift heavy equipment.

Hrs and Compensation:

Hrs are event specific. Compensation $20-25.

Reports to:

Belinda Emerson, Technical Director

Examples of Duties:

  • Confers with TD and production company representatives to determine lighting requirements; determine what plan are feasible with equipment available.
  • Draft light plots, install/focus lighting equipment, and run and control lighting equipment for events.
  • Perform minor repairs, clean and adjust lighting equipment.
  • Assist with setup of stage and sound when available.
  • Assist in all aspects of striking an event.
  • Assist with loading in/out an event. May require lifting/moving heavy equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in all aspects of operating lighting-related equipment.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Communicate effectively and follow directions.
  • Work well as a member of a team.
