An Intimate Evening with Séan McCann of Great Big Sea
Séan McCann’s love for Newfoundland and Labrador folk songs shot him to international fame as a founding member of the renowned group Great Big Sea. After millions of albums sold, countless hit songs, and record breaking tours around the world, Séan now tours as a solo artist in intimate venues where he can connect with his audience face-to-face with music bringing peace, love and happiness.
“Music is strong medicine. It brings peace and compassion and helps us make sense of our often volatile world. When I have my guitar in my hands, I know that I am not alone. The past is not my prison and I am not a victim….I am a survivor.” – Séan McCann
John Lennon once sang “You can live a lie until you die. One thing you can’t hide is when you’re crippled inside.” After exiting the internationally renowned folk group Great Big Sea and publicly admitting a secret past in which he used alcohol to mask the pain of sexual abuse by a priest; Séan stopped lying to himself and found his truth and his voice. With the release of his 5th solo album, “There’s a Place”, he continues his journey as a singer, songwriter, and now a sought after speaker and mental health advocate with a simple message: “You are not alone.”
