Spruce Peak Arts is a not-for-profit presenting organization nestled at the foot of Mount Mansfield in Stowe, Vermont. We are dedicated to using the inspiration and creativity of the performing arts to fulfill our ambitious mission to be a year-round window into the arts for the Northern Vermont region, inspiring, educating and entertaining our communities. Our growing roster of performances presents a diverse range of performing arts, education, and community events in our beautiful 420 seat venue located in Spruce Peak Village.

ABOUT USHERING AT SPRUCE PEAK ARTS
Our Volunteer Usher Team is an important part of the Spruce Peak Arts family, serving not only as the face of our organization at each event, but also providing an important range of safety and logistical support as well. We rely upon our ushers to help maintain a smooth and safe experience for our artists and audience.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ushers must arrive 75 minutes before a shows’ start time to assist with preparing the lobby and auditorium for audience arrival.
  • Ushers stay through the entire performance and assist with basic clean-up of the auditorium after each show.
    Provide courteous and effective customer service.
  • Assist with patron seating, ticket scanning, late seating, lobby monitoring and similar tasks, depending upon the event.
  • Must wear clean black pants/skirt and white shirt. Theater will provide an usher vest and name tag.

Theater Educators

Spruce Peak Arts Center Foundation is seeking individuals with experience teaching theatre, improvisation, and creating with elementary, middle and high school students. Recent graduates with an educational theatre degree are encouraged to apply. Choreography and musical theatre a plus!

Director/Assistant director/stage manager for workshops and camps at Spruce Peak Arts and partnering agencies, days and times will vary. Pay range starting at $18+hr. depending on experience.

Reports to:

Julianne Nickerson, Director of Education

Primary duties include:

  • Provide a safe and fun environment for youth attending theater classes & camps
  • Collaborate with Director of Education to design and develop classes & camps
  • Implement enriching and well-organized educational theater classes & camps
  • Creatively engage all students, promote growth in students’ theatrical skills
  • Communicate positively with parents at all points of contact including at drop off and pick up

Qualifications

  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience teaching theater to children
  • Specialized training in theater education
  • An affinity for and experience working with children
  • Patient, caring, and able to have fun with kids
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work well with others
  • Flexible, able to quickly adapt under changing conditions
  • Reliable, timely, and able to fully commit for the time hired
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to lift 25+ lbs. and to interact with children in all manner of play- bending, squatting, running etc.

Theater Technician

Theater Technician Job Summary:

Assists in all aspects of load in/out, setup, performance, and strike of events. May be required to lift heavy equipment. May be required to clear snow on sidewalks/stairs outside the theater.

Hrs and Compensation:

Part time hours are event specific. Compensation $16-20.

Reports to:

Belinda Emerson, Director of Production and Services

Examples of Duties:

  • Assist with the setup of stage, lighting, and sound for an event.
  • Assist backstage during an event.
  • Assist in all aspects of striking an event.
  • Assist with loading in/out an event. May require lifting/moving heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Basic knowledge of stage, lighting, and sound.
    • Communicate effectively and follow directions.
    • Work well as a member of a team.

Spruce Peak Arts Photography and Communications Intern

Exciting Opportunity: Spruce Peak Arts Photography and Communications Internship Available! 

Are you passionate about photography? Can you capture breathtaking visuals with your camera, specifically live performances? We’re looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our team and bring their skills to the table. If you’re a camera enthusiast, this opportunity is perfect for you. 

Qualifications 

  • Must possess your own acceptable level of camera equipment, Full understanding of camera settings for live events – including artificial lighting 
  • Proven experience as a photographer with a strong portfolio showcasing your work 
  • Proficiency in professional photography techniques 
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams 
  • Ability to take creative direction and incorporate feedback into designs 
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Stowe, VT/Burlington-area local is prefered 
  • However, equivalent work experience and a strong portfolio will also be considered 

Responsibilities 

  • In this role, you will be responsible for capture high-quality photographs of events and assist in occasional marketing initiatives   
  • Working closely with the Director of Communications and Event Marketing Manager, you will collaborate on developing a comprehensive plan and building a library of photos to be utilized in creative projects 
  • This role demands both technical proficiency in photography and a keen artistic vision 
  • Plan, execute, and manage photography based on a set event schedule 
  • Utilize appropriate equipment and techniques to capture high-quality images, ensuring proper lighting, composition, and focus 
  • Sort and organize final images in a systematic and efficient manner 
  • Occasionally assist in marketing tasks: social media content creation, collateral distribution, etc.
