After the screening of Mamboniks!, enjoy a FREE festival celebration, with delicious latin inspired desserts. Learn Rumba and Salsa with renowned dancer and instructor dSantos and then dance to the Cuban/Latin DJ set. Then: our grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts danced with joy at places like the Palladium, and all summer long in the Catskills. Now: we can honor the tradition and start our own in Vermont!

About Mamboniks:

Bagels meet bongos in THE MAMBONIKS, a 90-minute documentary film that tells the little-known story of the Jewish love affair with Latin music. Set in Havana, Miami Beach, New York and the Catskill Mountains, this fun, uplifting film features a lovable, somewhat zany collection of dancers from the 1950s. Now retired yet still dancing in Florida, they share their passion for the mambo, the hot dance from Cuba that became a world-wide sensation. With an infectious soundtrack including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and mambo king Pérez Prado, this film explores a mostly unexamined aspect of Jewish life and culture.

THIS FILM WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR VIRTUAL SCREENING ONLY FROM AUGUST 1st-AUGUST 4TH

About the Stowe Jewish Film Festival:
The Stowe Jewish Film Festival (SJFF), a program of the Jewish Community of Greater Stowe, works with the intention of bringing community together, both internal and external. The festival is an opportunity to reach out to others in the central Vermont region to engage in community building and dialogue through cultural entertainment. We see this as important now more than ever.
