John Fusco is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and blues musician with strong Vermont roots who has lived in the Stowe area for more than 3 decades, all while maintaining a storied Hollywood career.
He rocked the stage at Spruce Peak Arts in November 2019 with his band, X-Road Riders, but more recently, watched his improvised piano solo ‘Self-Isolation Blues’ go viral on social media, and An Evening at the Dancing Bear Piano Bar promises more of this musical storytelling. Fusco will be unplugged at his rebuilt 1927 baby grand piano and give a rare preview of some of those original blues songs and ballads.

While John Fusco is best known for his hit movies Crossroads, Young Guns, Thunderheart, Hidalgo, the Oscar-nominated Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Netflix’ Marco Polo series and the current Netflix hit The Highwaymen, he has also recently returned to his storytelling origins in American roots music.
Fusco’s first album, John Fusco and the X-Road Riders, a 2019 spontaneous jam session with the North Mississippi Allstars was a critically-acclaimed release on the Mississippi-based Checkerboard Lounge Records. Mark Jordan of the Memphis Flyer praised Fusco as “combining the loping, gritty vocals and church-ified organ of Gregg Allman with the sweaty blues muscle of Tab Benoit and Albert King.”

Fusco is wrapping up work on his new double album (due out in June) and will also give a rare preview of some of those original blues songs and ballads songs in this 30- minute event on ZOOM.
